Summer School Reminders for Attendees

We would like to thank you all for respecting the registration deadline, and reserving your space at the school before the deadline this year. The response to the school has been very encouraging and we have double the anticipated number of registered friends, and registration is now closed.

We have a great program for the school, and since we are just a few days away from seeing each other, we wish to share with you a few details for your consideration as you prepare for the weekend:

  • Many of you are bringing sponsored junior youth and children from the community of interest to the camp, and we would like to remind you to bring along the signed Sponsorship Agreement Form and the Medical Release Form to submit to the committee upon arrival.
  • Since the school is held on the first weekend of June, it is necessary to bear in mind when packing that the weather may not be as warm as we wish for it to be and therefore, you may need to dress in layers and bring along warm enough bedding and sleeping bags. In order to keep the cost of the school as low as possible we did not contract any bedding with the camp, and are leaving it to the participants to bring along their own bedding / sleeping bags and towels.
  • If you are planning to use the swimming pool, please remember to bring an extra towel, as well as a swimming suit that meets the Baha’i standard.
  • On Saturday night, we plan to have a talent show as part of the evening program and we encourage all those interested in performing Baha’i & non-Baha’i related pieces to bring their instruments with them to the school.
  • To the  CO E Baha’i School Committee, La Foret Conference and Retreat Center seemed to be one of the best facilities available for our use throughout the years. However, please remember that the camp is new to all of us, including to the members of the committee. Therefore, we beg for your cooperation, understanding and patience during the weekend.  (Please refer to the Camp’s General Rules below, and remember that we have to adhere strictly to those guidelines and respect them during our stay. Obviously, item #14 does not pertain to our group or our guests.)

We are looking forward to a great weekend, and are anxiously awaiting your arrival at the camp.

With loving Baha’i greetings,

CO E Baha’i School Committee

  1. Fires may be burned only in regular fireplaces.  Do not remove any ash or wood from the fireplaces.
  2. Candles may be burned in the Chapel and meeting spaces but only with adult supervision.  All candles must have a leak proof base to prevent wax from dripping on the floor or altar.
  3. Please drive only on regular roads. Speed limit is 5 MPH.
  4. Please park only in designated areas or along the road.  Help us protect our forest.
  5. No pets allowed.

  7. Please follow the Cabin and Meeting Space Cleaning Instructions before you leave.
  8. Please put trash in the trash cans.  Help keep our beautiful forest clean.

  15. The first person on site must be the contact person and must check in at the office for a brief orientation. Meeting space and cabins will be locked.
  16. Children must be under direct supervision of a parent or guardian at all times.
  17. Please do not throw anything into toilets; sanitary napkins, tampons, and paper towels in particular choke our sewage system.
  18. La Foret observes a quiet time from 10PM to 6AM each day out of respect to our neighbors and other visiting groups. This means that outside activities with noise that carries beyond the immediate activity area must stop by 10PM. In addition, noise that carries beyond the building where the activity takes place must stop be 10PM.
