Translating Thoughts into Action: Walking Together on a Path Toward Race Amity

Only if the efforts to eradicate the bane of prejudice are coherent with the full range of the community’s affairs, only if they arise naturally within the systematic pattern of expansion, community building, and involvement with society, will the American believers expand their capacity, year after year and decade after decade, to make their mark on their community and society and contribute to the high aim set for the Bahá’ís by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá to eliminate racial prejudice from the face of the earth.

Friends and Family Encouraged to Attend!
“Walking Together on a Path toward Race Amity and Oneness” is a program created by a task force appointed by The National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United States (including a member of the Continental Board of Counselors) and is being studied at Seasonal Schools across the country.

This inter-generational program brings families and communities together to study how race amity is an integral dimension of building community, gain new insights on addressing racial prejudice, and create action plans to carry forward this conversation in our daily activities.

In an atmosphere of openness and joy, conversation on difficult matters becomes possible and constructive.

Together we can build communities that are havens of unity!

The Baha’i schools are open to everyone. Families of those attending children’s classes, Junior Youth Groups, devotions and study circles are especially encouraged to attend this community-building weekend!

“Freedom from racial prejudice, in any of its forms, should… be adopted as the watchword of the entire body of the American believers … It should be consistently demonstrated in every phase of their activity and life … It should be deliberately cultivated through the various and everyday opportunities, no matter how insignificant, that present themselves.”

Shoghi Effendi, The Advent of Divine Justice

This school will be a celebratory sharing of experiences, reflections and learning as we focus on raising consciousness of our interactions with others, whether similar or different from ourselves. We will be studying recent guidance and connecting to the third prerequisite of success, the Elimination of Prejudice, described by Shoghi Effendi in The Advent of Divine Justice.

Come join us for a weekend of devotions, conversations, deepening, and fellowship. A special invitation goes out to youth, junior youth, children and their families!

Registration begins at 4:30 pm on Friday night followed by dinner. The program will begin at 7:00 pm.

Programs created for adults, youth, junior youth & children. Nursery & parent space for theme related discussions.

Nurturing Hope in a Chaotic World:
Brightening the Light of Justice

“Trust in the capacity of this generation to disentangle itself from the embroilments of a divided society. To discharge your responsibilities, you will have to show forth courage, the courage of those who cling to standards of rectitude, whose lives are characterized by purity of thought and action, and whose purpose is directed by love and indomitable faith.” ~ The Universal House of Justice

Friday August 31 – Monday, September 3, 2018

Location: La Foret Conference and Retreat Center, Black Forest, CO

Please join us at the Colorado East Bahá’í Summer School! We will begin to delve into the writings of Shoghi Effendi to help us study and consult on how to best transform both ourselves and our communities and walk together the path towards America’s Spiritual Destiny.

We will enjoy devotions and music, along with time for fellowship, reflection and recreation. The children and junior youth will be on the same path of study including some all-ages classes where we can learn together. A nursery is available for the young ones during class time.

Everyone is welcome!  Invite the children and their parents who are in your neighborhood children’s classes, invite the junior youth and their parents, invite those who attend devotions and those in your study circles.  Invite those whose homes you visit or those who visit you.

Together we can build communities that are havens of unity!

If he attends his summer school— and everyone without exception is urged to take advantage of attending it—let him consider such an occasion as a welcome and precious opportunity so to enrich, through lectures, study, and discussion, his knowledge of the fundamentals of his Faith as to be able to transmit, with greater confidence and effectiveness, the Message that has been entrusted to his care. Let him, moreover, seek, whenever feasible, through intercommunity visits to stimulate the zeal for teaching, and to demonstrate to outsiders the zest and alertness of the promoters of his Cause and the organic unity of its institutions.” ~ Shoghi Effendi
